![]() Altough this shouldnt also notify about leaving your phone in the car, earlier models dont have that. If you'r interested i can give you part numbers. Retrofit is pretty easy also, for my car all the cables are allready there, i just need to change the armrest interior and all good. The charging pad is much larger and both of our phones will fit without problems. I bought a facelift armrest interior and am going to retrofit it sometime soon. Later facelift C7.5 models had optional wireless charging mat in the bottom armrest. The car doesnt know that there is any phone attached or charged so no warning on MMI screen. My girlfriends 8 plus doesnt fit at all, so this is useless for her. With case on it hardly fits but still somehow charger even tough there is a few millimeter cap. My iphone x did fit after i grinded down the upper lip so that the phone is slightly over the edge. Earlier models that had phone prep had the possibility to attach a cradle instead of the phone holder in the armrest that would function as a qi charger. ![]() What car do you have? C7 A6 and A7 have basicly 2 options. If you're interested in adding a similar-looking wireless charger to your car, I've found drop-in replicas that seem to use the 12V socket as a source: I want to think there's a coding option on C7.5 cars to enable the DIS notification when a paired phone is left in the car and the door is opened, but I haven't found the source yet and it only be beneficial when plugged in via USB for CarPlay. I prefer to keep my phone visible using a magnetic dash mount and if it needs charging, I use a multi-USB charger from the 12V socket that offers 18W, nearly doubling the charge rate of what Qi can do. To me, the wireless charging pad isn't worth it. iPhone X wireless charging is limited to 7.5 watts, while faster and more powerful options exist over USB/Lightning Wireless charging isn't used while phone is plugged in via USB for CarPlay Placement of wireless charging pad would limit my use of a dash-mounted magnet mount While it's possible to read texts via Audi Smartphone Interface, my interaction with the phone is severely limited On the C8, it's even worse as Audi eliminated the split armrest/storage area Wireless charging pad takes up a significant amount of space beneath the console lid that I'd rather use for storage. If the car accelerated hard, there's a chance the phone could slip backward and become mis-aligned, halting charging Coil alignment required my iPhone X to be placed at the farthest forward position of the charging pad to work. DIS notification when phone remains paired to the car (or placed on the wireless charging pad) and door is opened ![]() Phone remains out-of-sight for safer driving and security in storage From my impressions using the wireless charger on the C8: Coincidentally, I just had a 2019 A6 loaner for some work done to my 2018 S6 and will be spending a good bit of time traveling to Farmington each week for business. I see punctuation and line breaks aren't exactly in your wheelhouse. So i'm having the pods sensor recall done now and the dealer gave me a 2019 A6 loaner, it's a pretty decent ride, pretty good pickup, the touch screens are cool looking but they're not really touchscreens like your phone, it seems you still have to press controls like a button til they click to work, but not all things.i'm sure i'd get used to it, but for usability i prefer my "dated" controls.anyway, the only thing i'm really envious about (besides the steering wheel which heats up almost instantly, good for CT), is the wireless charging in the armrest - i used it this morning, charged the battery about 14% in 10-15 minutes with the case on, also, when you open the car door and forget the phone on the charger the car tells you the phone is still in the car, anyway, does audi or anyone else make a decent retrofit kit for wireless charging? i know there are a thousand chargers out there on amazon, but i like that my iphone fits snuggly in the charger tray, pretty much all the ones i've seen are just a flat disc, which in a car isn't ideal.has anyone installed anything that they like? ![]()
