![]() While you go about your daily activities and interact with the local ghosts you get to learn about them. In Cozy Grove, Spry Fox has created a game that taps into the cuteness of games like Animal Crossing with its gorgeously haunting and kawaii aesthetic and has brought that into the conversations that you have the with the spirits of the island. There is an art to balancing storytelling that can hit the players heart in two completely different ways. The only gripe I have is that it uses Animal Crossing’s real-time clock system where there’s only so much story-related stuff you can do each day. It’s relaxing task-ticking at its finest and I’ve loved what I’ve played of Cozy Grove so far. You’ll even get badges to add to your Scout Spirit sash when you’ve met certain island goals. As you help the spirits out, the island becomes bigger, revealing more ghosts in need. Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dryįinding items isn’t just a case of wandering around until you stumble upon them, but actively seeking them out.The ghost bear carpenter, who has the fantastic name of Jeremy Gruffle, asks you to find some branches for a workbench, while the postal bear Patrice Furbac will task you with finding a lost package-it’s all breezy stuff. The game’s art style is dense with detail and colour, and as you skip across the island, trees, rocks, and objects fade in and out of the scene, making it easier to search the landscape. Cozy Grove mixes things up a bit, though, like making the hunt for resources more like a hidden-object game. Each island resident will give you tasks to complete, and through scavenging and crafting, you can fulfill their needs. It’s a life-sim collectathon through and through. The ghost bears can’t pass on until they come to terms with something in their past lives, so you’ll need to restore the island and help them find their way to the afterlife. ![]() In Cozy Grove, you play as a Spirit Scout who has been sent to a haunted island to help its residential spirits-who also happen to be anthropomorphic bears. With a little time, a little love, and a lot of crafting you’ll bring color and joy back to Cozy Grove! you play as a Spirit Scout Embark on quests tied to your relationships with the various spirits, decorate and customize your camp, make the island your own! With procedurally generated changes and a living world to keep you company, you’ll never run out of fun new things to do or collect. Explore the forest every day to find new items to craft, and areas to explore. You’ll build a camp, make friends with the characters, and bring color back by decorating. After that, you can fish, craft and decorate to your heart’s content! As a spirit scout it’s your job to help the spectral inhabitants with their afterlives. In real life, I don’t leave people or projects hanging. And provides 30-60 minutes of new quest content each day. ![]() I’m having to wrap my brain around it being ok to start a quest and have it vanish because I couldn’t get the resources fast enough. Provide more than one way to get the raw materials or increase storage so they don’t off load things and get themselves stuck. If you’re going to severely limit inventory space, people will need to sell items, or donate them, so they may get stuck unable to complete requests. Summary: delightful game, but resource limitations are a drag. IOW, have more than one way to get the items to complete quests. If you donated your versions or all resources are tapped out, (or your tools are broken and you can’t mine for more at the moment) that means you’ll have to fish or collect shells to sell to buy them, but there is a way to get the resource even if the rocks and holes are tapped out. make this available in the early stages to buy from the store. Perhaps enable Kit to sell more once you’ve upgraded the store once? Early quests call for iron, root veggies etc. I love the vibe of the game and the change to colors when you fulfill a request, but I do feel like it’s going to get a tad stale to be waiting for resources to respawn. ![]() It might be tomorrow or maybe a day later since there are only a few spots for each type item. It seems odd, I need one more root vegetable and one more iron ore, but there’s no where to dig and so far, I’ve only found three ore rocks and they’re tapped out. ![]() There are quests that time out or can’t be completed. Day seven and I find myself waiting for resources though. ![]()
